Who are we

Our Story

The Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP), established in 2019, aims to uplift the most vulnerable in Kwara State by addressing poverty, unemployment, and economic disparity. Focused on job creation, wealth generation, and entrepreneurial support, KWASSIP empowers disadvantaged individuals and households, helping them improve their livelihoods and contribute to the state’s economic growth. It embodies a vision where every citizen has the opportunity to thrive.

Mission

To reduce poverty and promote sustainable economic growth in Kwara State by delivering targeted financial support, skill development programs, and entrepreneurial resources that uplift vulnerable populations and foster community-wide prosperity.

Vision

To establish Kwara State as a model of inclusivity and prosperity, where every citizen has the opportunity to achieve economic independence, enjoy a higher quality of life and access social investment.

Milestones

Initiatives

2024

Social Protection Program

Launched a Social Protection Program and expanded Public Workfare. Supported security personnel, transporters, and Kwara traders affected by the Dosunmu Market inferno and shop demolition around ilorin.

2023

Launched Kwapreneur 4.0

Introduced the Public Workfare Environmental Taskforce, engaging idle youths to keep the environment clean.. Launched household support, skilled and unskilled programs, and continued the support for petty traders, widows, security, and business groups. Kwapreneur 4.0 was also rolled out to boost entrepreneurship.

2022

Beneficiaries Assessment

Conducted a successful impact assessment, revealing significant improvements in the livelihoods of beneficiaries.

2021

Additional Initiatives Launched

Expanded beneficiary coverage with the launch of new initiatives such as the Youth Petty Traders Seed Fund and the Widows Grant. Additional support was provided to transporters and bakers.

2020

Kwarans Support Programs Launched

Introduction of key programs, including Kwapreneur, Petty Traders Moni, and Artisan Grants. Also, special grants were provided to businesses impacted by the End SARS protests. In response to COVID-19, “Owo Ile Iwe” support was extended to 629 small schools and 348 large schools.
